Spend three weeks (June 10–28) at the Exploratorium in San Francisco learning how to introduce more inquiry into your classroom. Collaborate with other teachers to deepen your own practice, build content knowledge, and support a more equitable learning environment. Explore natural phenomena related to human perception, physical science, life science, Earth science, and the environment. Engage in activities that promote noticing, wondering, and experimenting so you can build understanding and create equitable and anti-racist science classrooms.

Applicants must be current in-classroom science teachers of grades 6–12 and should have at least three years’ experience teaching science in a classroom. Educators of color and educators working in public schools, especially Title I schools, are encouraged to apply.

The Summer Institute is free of charge; attendees pay only for travel, food, and lodging. Each participant will be awarded a $2,500 stipend after completing the institute. Six graduate-level semester units of continuing education credits are available for a fee.

The National Marine Sanctuaries Webinar Series provides educators, students, and the interested public with educational and scientific expertise, resources and training to support ocean and climate literacy. This series generally targets formal and informal educators that are engaging students (elementary through college) in formal classroom settings, as well as members of the community in informal educational venues (e.g. after school programs, science centers, aquariums, etc.). However, the series is open to anyone interested in the topics listed below.

Participants will be immersed in the operations and technology of a modern working observatory and learn about the discoveries that will be enabled by Rubin Observatory and NOIRLab telescopes. Participants will explore the Rubin and NOIRLab classroom activities that make use of authentic data.

NASA and The University of Texas at Austin Center for Space Research Summer Intern Program is a nationally competitive STEM program for high school students. The program provides selected students with exposure to Earth and space research. Interns will learn how to interpret NASA satellite data while working with scientists and engineers in their chosen area of work.

Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES) offers grants to equip the rising generation with scientific thinking ability.

Grants range from $5,000 to fund initiative to $1,250, to fund purchasing of equipment and supplies to conduct research and data collection.

My NASA Data is seeking interns experienced in teaching Earth Science, environmental science, and/or Earth Systems Science at the middle or high school level to assist in the development of Earth science education resources. This is a paid position and remote work is possible.

The opportunity includes but is not limited to reviewing, editing, and developing resources, making resources accessible on the internet, as well as training others in the implementation of My NASA Data resources. Formal education teachers with experience using the Next Generation Science Standards are preferred. This intern will assist in developing resources for grades 3-12 that are NASA assets aligned with current research-based education theory and practice.

The position requires a degree in education, Earth science, or Environmental Science, and teaching experience in Earth/Environmental Sciences is preferred. Teaching experience at the middle or high school level is required.
