NESTA Earth and Space Education Hour - January 2026 "Physics Meets Climate: A Collaborative Coffee Hour with AAPT and NESTA"
The National Earth Science Teachers Association (NESTA) and the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) invite you to a collaborative Coffee Hour on the theme of Physics & Climate. This session will highlight the physics underlying Earth’s climate system and explore strategies for engaging students with this critical topic. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect across disciplines, share classroom approaches, and discover resources that support effective climate and physics instruction.
Presenter: Elissa Levy, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology
Elissa Levy teaches physics at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. She is a member of NESTA and AAPT. At AAPT, she chairs the Diversity in Physics Community and leads workshops at local and national conferences. Elissa is also on the board of STEMteachersNYC, STEMteachersDMV, the Yale Science & Engineering Association, Yale Alumni Educators, and the Underrepresentation Curriculum. She works with local and national groups to develop the philosophy and practice of physics instruction.
