"It takes a village"

"Strength in numbers!"

No matter how you look at it, we are all more likely to accomplish our mutual goals to improve K-12 Earth and Space Science Education if we all work together. To this end, NESTA invites state, local, or regionally based Earth Science Teacher Associations (ESTAs) to affiliate with NESTA, and gain important benefits. NESTA also affiliates with other nationally based geoscience and educational associations in our efforts to advance our mission at the national level. NESTA appreciates the support of our sponsoring organizations, without whom we could not achieve our goals! If you are interested in starting a local, state-based, or regional ESTA, visit our How to Start an ESTA page.

NESTA believes that a strong network of state based ESTA's is essential to effectively serving the K-12 Earth Science educator community. Coordinating an Earth Science presence at 50 or more state science teacher conferences is simply not practical for a national organization—any more than it is practical to expect each state ESTA to have liaisons to national sister organizations like (NAGT, GSA, AGU, AGI and NSTA). We must band together to make sure that the challenges facing the Earth Science educational community are all met.

One of the biggest challenges facing any organization is maintaining effective communication with its members in today's electronic oriented society. The NESTA website on which you are navigating was re-designed from the ground up (through a grant from the NSF) to add many useful features, but more importantly to be maintainable by the "average teacher on the street." NESTA is offering to export the suite of web services to any affiliated state ESTA on a nominal at cost basis.
