Note from NESTA President
In about a month, NESTA's focus will be on the events we're sponsoring at the NSTA Conference in New Orleans. We hope that, despite all the bad news about the economy and the impact on school districts and schools, you'll be able to attend and benefit from what we have to offer you.
We look forward to welcoming you to our four Share-a-thons, Earth and Space Science Day lectures, and Rock Raffle. We've been very fortunate in receiving donations for this, and have a lot of great specimens to distribute. We hope you will also join us for the American Geophysical Union Lecture on Friday.
We also hope to greet you at our NESTA Eating Events, including the Friends of Earth Science Reception on Friday evening and the ticketed Earth and Space Science Day Breakfast on Saturday. We greatly appreciate the support for this year's Friends reception that we have received from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, & Exploration and the Mineral Information Institute!
Perhaps you can join some of us on the NESTA field trip to view the waterways in the region and learn more about what were the effects of Katrina and other storms. This wil be on Wednesday before the main conference sessions begin. Go to the NESTA website to learn more and make reservations for the ticketed field trip and breakfast events.
Many NESTA members will be more than passive receivers, but instead become active participants at this meeting by presenting at our Share-a-thons and volunteering a couple of hours to serve as hosts in our Exhibit Hall table.
But if you cannot join us this year, we hope that you will be with us at the 2010 NSTA National in Philadlephia or one of the fall Area Conferences in Minneapolis, Fort Lauderdale, or Phoenix.
