A study of over 40,000 written entries in Irish Annals and ice core measurements shows a strong correlation between the occurrence of volcanic eruptions and extreme cold weather in Ireland over a 1200 year period.
Field Trips and Field Conferences
Each year at the spring NSTA National Conference on Science Education, NESTA hosts an Earth Science related field trip that explores local geology and/or local places of interest related to the Earth Sciences. This all day field trip usually takes place the day before the NSTA conference begins. NESTA also occasionally offers or co-sponsors Field Conferences. Field Conference are generally a week or more in length and often carry the option of earning college credit for successful completion.
