Field Trips and Field Conferences

Each year at the spring NSTA National Conference on Science Education, NESTA hosts an earth science related field trip that explores local geology and/or local places of interest related to the earth sciences. This all day field trip usually takes place the day before the NSTA conference begins. For details on the next field trip including itinerary and costs, check information about our current field trip closer to the date of the conference or contact a NESTA Executive Board Member. Find out about the current field trip, and register to go on the field trip online.

NESTA also occasionally offers or co-sponsors Field Conferences. Field Conference are generally a week or more in length and often carry the option of earning college credit for successful completion. An example is the recent Southwest Astronomy Field Conference co-sponsored by the Michigan Earth Science Teachers Association and NESTA in 2008. If you are interested in offering a field conference, find out about the requirements for proposing a NESTA Summer Field conference through our Field Conference Policy.
