Ardis Herrold, NESTA Past President

Ardis teaches Earth Science and Astronomy at Grosse Pointe North High School in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. She is also Director of the Grosse Pointe Schools Planetarium. Ardis has taught high school science for 34 years. She created and is the advisor for an astronomy club, the Radio Astronomy Team (RATs). Ardis also works with students doing independent science research projects.

For thirty-two years Ardis has served in Earth Science leadership positions. She has twice been the president of the Michigan Earth Science Teachers Association (MESTA). She was previously a NESTA State Contact person and Regional Director. She has been a regular presenter at state and regional conferences for 25 years in addition to publishing numerous articles and serving a term as MESTA Editor.

In 2009 Ardis was recognized as the Outstanding High School Science Teacher of the year by the Michigan Science Teachers Association and received the Brennan Award for high school astronomy teaching by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific.
