About NESTA

The National Earth Science Teachers Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational organization, founded in 1983, whose mission is to facilitate and advance excellence in Earth and Space Science education. The USGS and Japanese seismologists both upgraded the magnitude of Japan's March 11, 2011 quake to 9.0 on March 14.

A massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit near the east coast of Honshu, Japan, on 3/11/11 at 02:46:23 PM local time at the epicenter.
