SEA LEVEL RISE
Dr. Charles “Chip” Fletcher
School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST),
University of Hawaii at Manoa

In this webinar presentation, geared toward the non-specialist, Dr. Fletcher will present an overview of several aspects of climate change and sea level rise. He will begin with a description of new research that explains global warming trends since 1998, followed by a description of the global components of sea level change. Dr. Fletcher will then focus on sea level impacts among western Pacific atolls such as coastal erosion, wave overwash, and coastal plain flooding, which events threaten the unique communities and ecosystems of the Pacific Islands.
