Research Grants in Scientific Drilling - $2000 - $5000, Applications Due March 1, 2012

The DOSECC Grant Program (formerly called the DOSECC Internship Program) invites students and teachers to apply for summer grants in scientific drilling. The grants promote involvement in projects where drilling has provided data and materials for study, and are available to college students (graduate or undergraduate) and primary and secondary schoolteachers, worldwide.

Awardees can undertake research related to ongoing or past drilling efforts and can work anywhere you like - you can crunch data at your home institution, travel to a drill site to collect data, go to a core repository to examine samples, or prepare a lesson plan for your science classroom. You pick your own project and do your own research. Awardees do not come to DOSECC to work with us, nor do we provide the rock or sediment core - DOSECC personnel are not really involved in your project, except for granting you the money to do your research.

Applicants do not have to be attending a DOSECC Member Institution to be considered for this award. Grant funding will be available in the summer of 2012 and budgets of $2,000 to $5,000 are appropriate.

Applications must be received by March 1, 2012 and awardees will be announced April 2, 2012.
