Greetings Marine Educators!

We are seeking outstanding California marine educators to be honored with the Ocean Leadership Award. This award is given out annually to deserving educators, such as yourself, with the winning educator receiving $500. to help further their efforts! Please take a moment and complete the easy 10 steps to nominate that special educator that goes beyond the call of duty (or even nominate yourself!). The Ocean Leadership Awards recognizes California educators who make outstanding contributions in aquatic science education.

We have several nominating categories:

  • Formal Teaching Excellence Award – (3 categories) for the teachers who are active.
  • Informal Teaching Excellence Award – for environmental educators.
  • Early Career Award – given to encourage novice teachers.
  • Commitment to Education Award –individuals in the field of education.

Nominating is so easy…you are just 10 steps away from winning!

We only need the following information about your candidate:

  1. Name of the individual
  2. Address
  3. Phone number
  4. Email
  5. Occupation and Institution
  6. Grade level (if appropriate)
  7. Number of years working in education
  8. Award Category (and subcategory, if appropriate)
  9. Name of the nominator and relationship to the nominee
  10. A one-page narrative about the nominee (see details)

DEADLINE: The last day to submit a nomination is FEBRUARY 1, 2010.

WHO: These Awards are open to all California educators. Up to one letter of recommendation will be considered. A panel of USC and Quiksilver ocean educators, scientists, and enthusiasts will judge applications. Awards will be made in those categories for which there are an adequate number of qualified applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Each Awardee will receive a $500 stipend and a QuikSCience Ocean Leadership recognition plaque.
